President Muhammadu Buhari has addressed three critical issues affecting Nigeria and Nigerians in the recent past.
Buhari, who returned on saturday from United Kingdom after spending 104 days away from home on medical vacation, said he had kept in daily touch with events at home.
Here are the three things the President addressed in his nationwide broadcast on Monday.
Hate Campaign On Social Media
President Buhari said he was disturbed with some of the comments, especially in the social media.
He said that hate comment have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation.
The president described hate comment as “a step too far”.
How Government Will Address Pro-Biafra Agitators’ Grieviance.
Buhari, who said Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable, however, noted that this is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns.
“Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence, he said.
Buhari urged pro-Biafra agitators to approach the National Assembly and the National Council of State, saying that those are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.
Boko Haram other Criminals Will Be Fought And Destroyed
Speaking on the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists, Buhari charged security agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax.
He said terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in peace and safety.
President Buhari added that in addition to the fight against Boko Haram, his administration will tackle kidnappings, farmers versus herdsmen clashes, and ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers.
