LAHA Seat: ‘Entrench Democratic Principles, Adopt Adebayo’ – Kosofe Professionals Write APC Leaders

Kosofe Collective, a group of professionals residing within Kosofe local government area has written an open letter to the Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, urging it to entrench democratic principles in the party by respecting existing arrangement on zoning of vacant seat of Kosofe Constituency 2 in the Lagos state house of Assembly.

In the letter cited by BreezeReporters and signed by the convener, Durosimi Fatai, the group told the APC leaders and decision makers to follow the path of honour by respecting the existing arrangement in which the now vacant seat was zoned to Agboyi-Ketu.

Kosofe Collective argued that ”the vacant Lagos East Senatorial constituency, the federal Representative and member of LAHA representing Kosofe I State constituency are all from Ikosi-Isheri, and to also give the same constituency the second seat in the Lagos Assembly would be the height of injustice.

Durosimi said ”Our suggestion therefore is for the party to pick from among those aspirants from Agboyi-Ketu who contested the party primary with Barr. Braimoh.

”Even better would be the adoption of the person who was runner-up to Barr. Braimoh in the person of Hon. S. Olanrewaju Adebayo, he said.

The group which comprises of professionals in Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri and Agboyi- Ketu LCDAs, with a common interest of pushing the developmental agenda of the area we call home, said any attempt to truncate the wishes of the electorate in the constituency would be ”vigorously resisted” and could ”spell the beginning of the end for this party”.

The State Chairman,

All Progressive Congress (APC),

Ogba, Lagos.

Dear Sir,

HELP AVERT THE IMMINENT CHAOS IN KOSOFE II STATE CONSTITUENCY.

Kosofe Collective is a group of professionals residing within the defunct Kosofe local government area, now comprising Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri and Agboyi- Ketu LCDAs, with a common interest of pushing the developmental agenda of the area we call home.

We as a group are disturbed by the rumours emerging from the rank of the ruling party in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the ongoing efforts to replace the late Hon. Barr. Tunde Braimoh, the deceased law maker representing Kosofe II State Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA).

Although we still regard the emerging news as mere rumours, we feel the need to state the below to dissuade the decision makers in the party to tie the path of honour by respecting the existing arrangement in which the the now vacant post was zoned to Agboyi-Ketu.

As things are, the vacant Lagos East Senatorial constituency, the federal Representative and member of LAHA representing Kosofe I State constituency are all from Ikosi-Isheri, and to also give the same constituency the second seat in the Lagos Assembly would be the height of injustice.

As a party that claims to be out to entrench democracy and democratic principles in the country, its bidy polity and its political processes,, this news allegedly emanating from within the party is not just discouraging but also likely to be counterproductive for the party within our immediate locality.

There are enough qualified aspirants from Agboyi-Ketu to fill the vacancy left by the late Barr. Braimoh, and to go outside the existing arrangement to pick a replacement is a call for chaos – now and subsequently.

It is equally our opinion that the APC should be at the forefront of the efforts to demonetise our democracy and democratic process in furtherance of its claimed democratic credentials.

Our suggestion therefore is for the party to pick from among those aspirants from Agboyi-Ketu who contested the party primary with Barr. Braimoh. Even better would be the adoption of the person who was runner-up to Barr. Braimoh in the person of Hon. S. Olanrewaju ADEBAYO.

As stated earlier, any attempt to truncate the wishes of the electorate in the above named constituency would be vigorously resisted and could spell the beginning of the end for this party (APC) which is already having it’s dominance in Lagos tested by the opposition.

Thanks for your understanding,

Yours faithfully,

DUROSINMI Fatai,

Convener.

Adeyemi Olalemi
